Landscaping & Traffic News August 2023

Construction at Hamilton Rise is coming along well and we’re thrilled to advise we will be commencing our entry landscaping due to required stormwater infrastructure.

This work over the next few months will see a section to the south of Yass Valley Way planted with mature trees and verge grassing. The fencing to this section and proposed roundabout, however is not included in this program of work and will be constructed in conjunction with Stage 4.

The verge to the north along Yass Valley Way, will see the full extent of the proposed landscaping detail as stage 1 construction is finalized.

Yass Valley Way will become an inviting avenue of mature trees and shrubs. Fencing, in keeping with the vision of Yass, will flow the length of the community on both sides of Yass Valley Way.

An entry statement into Yass is being developed by Yass Valley Council in conjunction with their Wayfinding Project.

Frequently Asked Questions:

How long will this construction take?
The program is currently running at 10-12 weeks, pending weather conditions

Why are we looking at landscaping now when stage 1 isn’t complete?
Stage 1 works require a stormwater connection under Yass Valley Way to the detention basin in the south. Once this connection is complete we will install the landscaping to the south side of the verge rather than leave it bare.

Will there be any road closures or traffic management required?
Yass Valley Way will continue to have 2 way traffic during the majority of construction, however this will be at a reduced speed. It is anticipated there will be a full road closure for one evening in September (approx. 7pm to 6am) to allow services to be installed under Yass Valley Way.

Will we be notified of the road closure?
Yes. Yass Valley Council will ensure residents are kept up to date with any traffic changes. Additionally, noticeboards will be placed at the entrances to Yass to inform the community of when the full road closure will take place.
